Lampex Drill is back, and this time he’s here to shake the dance floor with pure electricity. His new single Bounce, is exactly what the name promises — a high-energy Afro-fusion anthem designed to move bodies and light up clubs. After the more introspective vibes of Kumbaye, Lampex flips the script with a track that’s equal parts Amapiano groove, Afrobeats swagger, and raw club energy.
From the jump, Bounce hits like a wave. The beat is heavy, the percussion slaps, and the bassline doesn’t just sit in the background — it shakes the room. What makes it even more special is the presence of HYPEMAN Standard, North Central Nigeria’s biggest hype man, whose voice-overs transform the track into a full-blown party experience. It feels less like you’re listening to a song and more like you’re standing in the middle of a packed club with the DJ dropping bombs and the crowd screaming every word.
Interestingly, Bounce almost had a South African twist. ESK Musiq, the duo behind Stop n Go, were originally set to bring their Amapiano magic to the track. But after a robbery derailed that collab, Lampex kept pushing, and HYPEMAN Standard’s unmistakable fire ended up giving the single all the edge it needed.
Recorded in Abuja, the home of trailblazers like Odumodublvck and Psycho YP, the single embodies the same city’s grit and ambition. Lampex himself calls it “hard, heavy, and different” — a track built to make DJs drop it and watch the room explode. And he’s not wrong. This is the kind of record that feels unstoppable, the kind of anthem you can already imagine soundtracking late-night parties, festivals, and viral dance challenges.
For Lampex Drill, who first came into the spotlight as a top runner-up in Mavin Records’ 2021 “Up Rising Artist” competition and has since worked with Davido’s signee Boi Chase on Follow, this release feels like the start of something big. It’s the first taste of a new EP or album, and with a hype-heavy rollout — teasers, influencer pushes, DJ spins, and a dance challenge — Bounce is set up to become more than a song. It’s about to be a movement.
